Scrip Program Q&A

Q: Which schools in the district are participating?
A: Every school is participating.

Q: What, if any, will be the role of the PTCs in the program?
A: The role of the PTCs will be exclusively to market the program to parents. Since the dollars spent by parents go right back to their child’s school, each PTC must impress upon parents the importance of supporting their child’s school by purchasing Scrip on a regular basis.

Q: How often will I be able to purchase Scrip?
A: Any time, any day during the school calendar year! Your scrip will be delivered within 3 business days, maybe sooner. Your may order your scrip via online at www.eurekascrip.com, this will save the schools printing costs and save thousands of pieces of paper each week. Some PTCs may offer order forms one to two times a year as well as sell scrip out of the box!

Q: How will I receive the Scrip?
A: You have three choices. The Scrip can be picked up at the school office, sent home with your child or mailed to you (nominal shipping charges will apply). The choice is yours!

Q: How can I pay for the Scrip?
A: You have two choices. The best way is to drop a check off in the school office to avoid credit card fees that your PTC will have to cover. If you prefer, you can also pay on line using your credit card. We understand that many people like the convenience and perks of credit cards, but want to make sure parents understand that there is a cost for their use.

Q: What type of businesses are participating in the Scrip program?
A: As in the past, the available companies will be local, regional and national. There are many local merchants participating, including Fin’s Market & Grill, El Sombrero and Mikuni Sushi. Regional companies include The Habit Grill and Boudin Bakery. National companies include Starbucks, Safeway and Whole Foods.

Q: How do I know how much money each business returns to the schools?
A: The percentage being donated by each business (prior to costs such as credit card processing) is clearly stated on the order form.

Q: If this is a school fundraiser, why is ESF contracting with a private, for-profit company?
A: While we would certainly prefer to have ESF and the PTCs keep ALL of the money, the reality is that there are not enough volunteers willing to take on this program. As the program has been reduced at the schools, so too has the amount of money being raised. Even with paying an outside firm, we believe we can substantially grow the total dollars being returned to each school over time.

Q: How will ScripSource be compensated for managing the program?
A: ScripSource has negotiated favorable discounts by combining their purchasing power. The percentage that you see posted on the website, less credit card fees will be the amount your school will earn. It is important to recall that in the past, all the school-run scrip programs incurred expenses to run their programs which included, copy costs, shipping costs from card suppliers, credit card fees and the cost of holding inventory.

Q: How will the profits be divided between the PTCs and ESF?
A: ESF contracted with Scrip Source on behalf of the PTCs. ESF also administers quarterly meetings and marketing assistance to each PTCs. All proceeds go directly to each school.

Q: How can grandparents in Dallas, TX or an uncle in Los Angeles, CA use Scrip to support their relatives?
A: There are many national and regional stores with multiple locations. They can look through the list and find the stores or restaurants in their area. Just send them the email link and they can set up an account. They can purchase Scrip on line with a credit card and have it mailed to them.

Q: Why did ESF select ScripSource to contract with?
A: The owners of ScripSource are district parents with a vested interest in seeing this program succeed. They are also present and former PTC volunteers who understand how the Scrip program works and have established relationships with local and national merchants.

Q: What happens if my Scrip order is lost?
A: All orders sent through the mail will be tracked. Mail is therefore a very safe way to receive your Scrip. If you request that your order be picked up at the office of your child’s school, ScripSource will deliver the order and it will be signed for by office staff. ScripSource will assume liability until such time as the order is received by the school.
