The ESF Endowment

The ESF Endowment Fund was created to provide a sustainable source of funding for key enrichment programs for the Eureka Union School District.

The fund consists of invested assets; while the principal is required to remain intact, investment dividend income can be used for the long-term benefit of the school district. As it builds, the endowment's annual interest income will eventually supplement the Foundation's other fundraising efforts. ESF continues to invest a portion of its annual donation proceeds into the endowment, based on current district needs. The endowment fund is administered by a third-party, the Sacramento Region Community Foundation. 

As of 2008, yearly dividends of the ESF Endowment Fund serve to fund a EUSD Teacher Excellence initiative.  This initiative serves to help fund professional development in cutting-edge teaching techniques for our district teachers.  ESF’s support for continuing training in critical thinking curricula and interdisciplinary/ project-based learning models is another great way that your donation to ESF improves your child’s education.

Your donation of assets to the ESF Endowment is truly an investment in our community’s future – one that will enrich young lives for years to come. There are many ways to make a donation:

• A Tax-Deductible Cash Donation: A cash donation can take the form of a one-time gift or long-term pledge over several years;
• Securities: donors may give securities with a low cost basis;
• Appreciated Real Estate: This may be a way to gain tax advantages for donors who have held assets for long periods of time. Donors may give real estate outright or continue to occupy a home they have gifted and retain certain rights of income or use until their death;
• Life Insurance: When an insurance policy is no longer needed for protection, the policy holder can transfer ownership and name the Endowment as the beneficiary;
• Testamentary Devises: Assets as a part of a will may be another opportunity to give a gift of lifelong learning through a charitable trust agreement.
