Foundation Background
What is ESF?
The Eureka Schools Foundation (ESF) is a non-profit foundation which supports every student in the Eureka Union School District. Founded in 1992 by parents, community members, and local businesses, ESF has served to bridge the gap in unpredictable and often insufficient education funding from our state government. ESF preserves programs and resources that are essential building-blocks to kids’ education and their future.
Who runs ESF?
ESF is administered by a volunteer board comprised of parents from EUSD schools and student interns from the High School. The board typically has between 10 - 15 voting members, with additional parents serving as board members and contributing to our fundraising and information efforts. The district Superintendent and a principal liaison also attend meetings in an advisory capacity. Board meetings are open to the public.
What do ESF funds support?
Funds collected by the foundation benefit every child in every school in the Eureka Union School District – for “people” (teacher salary support) and learning aids (concrete learning items such as computers, audio/visual equipment, and musical instruments.) Your ESF donation is targeted in these areas:
- Enrichment programs – music teacher support, band and choir support, after-school Spanish education, library resources and aide support, physical education, science and lab education and much more!
- 21st century technology - computers, classroom technology, computer lab staff support and other areas of technology learning experiences.
Thanks to the unwavering commitment of family and corporate resources, our children know first hand that reading, writing, and arithmetic go much further when complemented by music, science, athletics and foreign language.
